"We want to start out by measuring out our dry ingredients. You'll notice that I've got a big bowl, but I also have a strainer over the bowl because we need to sift these ingredients together so that they're all incorporated. Starting with our largest ingredient. This is our all purpose flour. We want three cups of all purpose flour. And I like to level the flour off. That way I know I've got a cup. One. Two and three cups. Okay. Next I want one and a half teaspoons of baking powder. Now most people think that a tablespoon is two teaspoons. Au contraire. A tablespoon is three teaspoons. So don't ever get into that jam of thinking that if it's a half a tablespoon, you can substitute a teaspoon for it. But we want one and a half teaspoons, so I've got one and again I'm leveling off and I take my half teaspoon measure. I want one teaspoon of baking soda. And these are our leavening ingredients. This is what's going to help it to rise. I mean we have many leavening ingredients in this particular recipe. Our baking powder, our baking soda, our eggs that we use are leavening ingredients and also our sour cream. And then we want half a teaspoon of salt. This can be a little messy. I know it's looking a little messy to you and it's looking a little messy to me. But trust me it's worth it. There we are. A half a teaspoon of salt. And then all you need to do is tap the side of the sifter. And it's going to make a nice light and fluffy blend. There."
