"My name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today, I'm going to show you how to make a nice simple pound cake. Alright, a couple of things you're going to need for today's recipe. You're going to need a nice, the way I'm going to do it, you're going to need a nice table top mixer sitting like this. And when you use it, you want to make sure you use the whisk attachment. Which is this part right here. Looks kind of like this. It may not look exactly like this, but it will look something similar to this. So it will have like the wire things all over it. You could also use a hand mixer. Like the little ones you do like this. Those will work just fine too. Or you can do it by hand if you're really a masochist and want to do a lot of damage to your forearms and wrists. So, that's one option. So I'm going to do it with a mixer today. You're also going to need a pan. I got a little eight and a half inch loaf pan. That's kind of the traditional way you would serve a pound cake is in a loaf pan like this. That's the way they came over from England. You could also, the American tradition seems to be the round bunt pan or like the, any sort of tube pan that's circular like that. You don't have to do necessarily that. I'm doing this in a, actually this is technically going to be a half pound cake because of the size pan that I'm using. This little eight of a half inch pan. We've also got the trusty rubber spatula here. Always handy. I've also got here in the background, you'll see a, this is an aerosol, non stick flour based baking spray. You don't have to use this. You could actually grease this if you want. But I've found that if you grease these Teflon pans, it tends to get kind of gooey and make a mess, so I'm going to use this. And the reason you want to go with something like this is because the high amount of sugar in this recipe is going to cause the sugar to caramelize and stick to the insides of your pan. So you're going to want something to keep it from sticking. I'm going to kind of double up here with a combination of Teflon as well as the nonstick spray. And like I said, you could use butter, but I wouldn't recommend butter on Teflon because it just rolls down to the bottom and all puddles up in the bottom of the pan down here. Obviously towels always handy to have around. That way if you make a mess, you can wipe it up really quickly. And underneath everything here, I've got a cooling rack. It's what our cake is going to go on at the end. This is just a wire rack. You can buy them at most cooking stores. If you don't have one, you could easily improvise. You could use one of the, I'll show you. You could use one of your burner cover off your stove or if you have an insert for a toaster oven or even one of the shelves out of your oven, that will work just fine. So, let's go ahead and get started making our recipe dough, cause I'm hungry."
