Series Summary

The chicken’s egg is one of those foods that you will find almost anywhere you go. Its role as a staple food in the world diet, its presence in many different dishes, is due in part to its nutritional value as a protein supplement, its ability to bond foods together as a type of edible glue, and the myriad ways in which it can be prepared.

Eggs can be cooked in more ways than one person can imagine: scrambled, fried, sunny side up, over easy, over hard, as an omelette, hard boiled, poached…and there’s no end to the number of recipes that require eggs, including cakes and other desserts, pastries, soups, quiches, custards, fried rice, potato salad, and sandwiches. Eggs are one of nature’s ultimate foods.

In this free cooking video series, learn how to boil an egg. Hardboiled eggs are great for potato salad, egg salad sandwiches, tuna fish, or deviled eggs. Our expert will walk you through the simple steps to boil eggs, including how much water to add, how long to boil, how to tell when the eggs are done, how to cool them, and finally how to peel the eggshells. This beginner cooking class is great for anyone daunted by the prospect of preparing food. Enjoy.
