"Storing tomatoes in your home can be a pretty easy task if done correctly. You want to keep them out of the refrigerator. Refrigeration gives the flesh of the tomato a mealy texture and also takes all of the flavor away. Keep that in mind when buying tomatoes at a grocery store as well. If they are refrigerated at the store then the process has already begun and no matter what you do when you get home you will not have a good product. Tomatoes should be stored in a cool dry place on your counter. Many people place them on their window sills but direct sunlight is not recommended. The stage of ripeness of the tomato when you buy it will determine how long you have before having to use it. If you want to use your tomatoes throughout the week then try not to buy them all at a bright red perfect texture or color. Vary them a little by buying tomatoes lighter in color which indicates that they are not as ripe. That way you can spread them throughout the week."
