"Hi, I'm Stephanie Barnett here on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to show you today how to make fabulous Split Pea Soup. I have my chopped garlic now. I am going to add that to the pan with the caramelized onions and carrots; get that all out. Now chopped garlic is very sticky, so you want to make sure you get all the little bits out from your boil and again, you want to stir that together. You want to brown the garlic but you don't want to burn it. If garlic gets too brown or starts to burn, it turns really bitter and it will put a horrible taste to your soup, so really watch this. Again, you are going to shake this and get distributed over the whole bottom. And right now we are going to add a little bit of salt and pepper to this mixture. Take a little bit of sea salt. That is probably about half a teaspoon and some freshly ground pepper and stir that all up. "
