"Hi, I'm Stephanie Barnett here on Expert Village. I am going to show you today how to make a fabulous Split Pea Soup. So now we are going to add our chopped carrots. We want to add them next to the caramelized onions because our onions are not quite done yet and we want the carrots to caramelize along with the onions. So just drop those in, make sure you get everything out of the bowl, make sure your hands are clean. I am going to stir those in. Carrots have a lot of natural sugar so they are going to caramelize well on their own. You don't need to add anymore oil. You just let those sit again. Because the onions are already starting to caramelize, you are going to need to stir this a little more often than if the carrots were alone. Carrots have the same thing as the onions. You could coat them with oil and let them cook down if they were on their own and then stir them. But because we added them to the caramelized onions, we are going to need to continue to stir. "
