Chop Onions for Cream of Mushroom Soup Recipe

"Hi, this is Richard Buccola here in New York City and on behalf of Expert Village, today we are going to show you how to make some cream of mushroom soup. Okay, so we have chopped our mushrooms, the next thing we are going to do is chop our onion, it is a 1/2 of onion. This is actually an onion that I had left over from making something else. So remember, save your stuff. This is all I'm going to need for this soup. I'm just going to come over here to my cabinet and I'm just going to take, you know a regular cereal bowl, I'm a normal guy, this is normal cooking. I want everyone to know that, I'm not a big chef, I just like to cook, I like using fresh ingredients and through the years actually people said I should keep cooking and I did. I use to cook every Sunday for everyone and everyone loved it, so now I'm going to cook here for you on Expert Village and I hope you enjoy it. A real simple way to cut an onion, I just chop it. We are going to go along, you actually see the lines in the onion, so you chop it that way by coming straight down. If that happens, don't worry we just put it back together and we chop it that way. Again, always put your knuckles, don't forget. Just turn the onion this way and we are going to chop it down and it will cut into nice little pieces for you. After that we can just actually, just chopping straight down, chop it into nice itsy bitsy pieces is nice and when we come back we will show you how to finish chopping this up and start our soup.
