"Hi! This is Matt on behalf of Expert Village and today I am going to show you how to make my homemade onion rings and homemade dipping sauce. Okay so we see how the shortening is kind of popping a little bit. It's not too hot but it is just hot enough. We'll add one of our onion rings in there. We don't want them to touch each other so we are going to add another one right there. Just add one more in this corner. Okay we want them to slowly cook. We want them to cook for about six minutes and we are going to keep turning them over so just turn that over there. I think we can add one more right there. We don't want them to touch each other because we don't want the batter to fall off and get stuck together. Give them their own little space plus we need room to be able to turn them over. So we are going to let these cook for about six minutes. Don't turn them over a lot. Just a couple of times because you don't want them to get burned but we definitely want them to cook through. As you can see, these are coming along nicely. Just letting them cook through and like I said before, you want to let them cook about six minutes not sticking to the pan and leaving a nice golden brown. They are still a little soft so we want to keep letting them cook. Just give them another turn. Be careful, oops, turn that over there. Remember to let them have their own space. Okay so now that they are about done, we are going to just take these and transfer it over to a plate with a paper towel over them so the oil can drain and the paper towel can sop up the oil. That's it. What we are going to do is finish the rest of these over here and we will see you on the next step. "
