I am Jim Koch and we are talking about auto lockouts. In this clip, we are going to be talking about one of the other preventative measures and if everyone carried one of these, I would be out of a door and that is a hide-a-key or a lock box. Lock box or hide-a-key is a good system but I find way too often people install the improperly and when they go to use them, they are not there. If this isn't placed the way it should be on a vehicle, it is going to be lost. It is a real simple system. You put your keys inside, lock is closed, got a magnet on the back. Basically you just find a good place on your frame, attach it and you've always got a spare key. When it comes time to selection for your hide-a-key, you want to find a place that is metal, it needs to be flat, it needs to be a good clean solid surface for the hide-a-key for the magnet to stick to. In this part, we are just going to demonstrate a good location. Right here we've got a nice flat metal surface, take a towel, clean it off real good, make sure there is no debris or for the people that live back East, you want to make sure that it is an area that is not undercoated because the undercoating will insulate the metal and the magnet won't stick. One you've got the area selected and got it nice clean, just stick your hide-a-key on there, kind of wiggle it around, make sure that it doesn't move and doesn't want to slide off and make sure it doesn't pull off easy. If it pulls off easy and the first bump you hit, it is going to be gone. You want to make sure that it is stuck solid and that it is in place and in this case, I've actually put the box on the wrong way. If you look here, that is how the box opens. Sitting that way, gravity could do that for me. So you want to make sure that you put it on this way. Now I've got some debris on back of the magnet. You want to make sure that it is stuck good and solid and that if it is going to open, it is going to open towards the upward way and also you want to make sure that this is in a place that a thief is not just going to walk by and see it. If he sees it, your car is gone. You also want to make sure that it is a place you can get to with reasonable ease, because if you are out for a dinner with your wife and kids and you are dressed real nice, you don't want to be crawling around in the dirt and find your key. So there are a lot of things to consider when you do this. Just make sure that you get it good and solid and that it doesn't want to fall
