"In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure in order to remove and replace a broken CV joint also known as a drive shaft on a front-wheel drive vehicle. In this step, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for breaking loose your lug nuts and the constant velocity joint nut located inside here. Ok, what we're going to do is take our four way and break the lug nuts loose with the vehicle on the ground. The reason why you're going to leave the vehicle on the ground and break them loose is that if you had it in the air and applied leverage to break the wheels loose, the tire would just free spin due to the differential action inside the trans axle. So what we're going to do is let the vehicle hold it still for us and break them loose. Alright. Also, while we have the wheel held still, what we're going to do is break loose our constant velocity joint retaining nut. We're going to use that special socket. This one happens to be a 32 millimeter. I'm going to slip it on there and use a cheater pipe. Now I won't kid you folks, a lot of leverage is going to be required to break these loose. That's why we are using a cheater pipe. Right there. I'm going to go ahead and give a couple spins on it. And that is the proper service procedure for breaking loose your lug nuts and your constant velocity joint nut."
