Checking Fuel Level in Drag Racing Car

"Hi, I'm Tina Stull, and I drive the top dragster for Interstate Batteries. On behalf of Expert Village, I want to talk to you a little bit about getting ready to go to the lanes. You also want to make sure that you've fueled the car. Part of it is, when you come back from a run, I typically like to do and reset the car as soon as I get back from a run, but with adrenaline flowing sometimes maybe there's a problem with car, you can get out of routine, so it's something that I always check at the very end. And the idea is that you're just--you keep, you guys have to watch each other?s back, but ultimately you're going to be the one who?s losing if you don't. Then, you make sure that you have all your gear, like we were talking in the car. Now is a good time to check the weather and kind of decide what kind of numbers you want to put in your box. And we talked about that in another segment. But those numbers are going to most likely adjust a little bit. Weather changes, time changes, direction of the sun, all those things become a factor, but if you have them at least in here, you know how much you're going to have to change off of the numbers that you've preset, and you're not up there doing things last minute, because a lot of times those last minute choices take you in the wrong direction--you're over thinking it. You also have your air bottle. If you have an air-shifted bottle, then what you need to do is make sure it's in the open position and check the poundage. These are highly likely to leak just because of the number of fittings and the wear and tear on them, so, without that though, you forget to turn it on, or its got a leak, and you've forgotten to fill it or you left it on overnight, all those things can really spell disaster first round."
