"My friends call me CK and I’m speaking on behalf of Expert Village. I am a stunt man and I’m going to give you some tips today on motorcycles. You want to look at the fork seals, which are right here, you want to look for oil dripping or running down the fork tube because if that is leaking oil then you’re going to have a problem in your forks. It might just mean that the fork seals need to be replaced, or it might mean that there’s some major problem inside the bent fork tube. These are items that you can look for, they’re easily repaired. If you have some basic knowledge you can do some of this stuff yourself, if not any local motorcycle dealer will be able to help you along with that. But these are points to look for and it’s a good bargaining aspect also with your bike. Ask whoever you’re purchasing the bike from, what their maintenance schedule was, how often the maintained the bike, if they knew when the last time they changed the air filter because on specifically dirt bikes the main key that wears these things out is dirt. That’s why they’re called that. The dirt gets in everywhere dirt, water, sand. If it’s been properly maintained and cleaned, you’re going to be in good shape, it might be a little worn out, but it’s going to still be in good shape. You want to check the air cleaner, on pretty on much every motocross bike, whether it be a two stroke or four stoke, you’re going to find your air cleaner under the seat. Usually, there’s only two bolts you remove, one here and one on the other side. Remove that and the air cleaner is directly under the seat. That air cleaner should always be maintained and cleaned regularly. If you look at a bike and the air cleaner is filthy and the filter box is very dirty, I would question purchasing that bike because you don’t know how much dirt has been sucked into that engine, the piston, the rings could really be worn and you could be in for a load of trouble.
