A dinner party is not a dinner party without appetizers. Known in France as hors d’oeuvre and in Italy as antipasto, appetizers have become a staple of American restaurants and dinner hosting. Appetizers are served before the meal, to whet the appetite or sustain guests before the full meal is ready, or sometimes as a dish in their own right, popular as “refreshments” or snacks during events or cocktail parties. Depending on the mood and scale of the event, appetizers can be served at the table as the early course of a meal, carried and served on small trays by a wait staff, or made available “buffet style” on a large table.
In this free video series, kitchen and health food expert Marlene Spiegel shows you how to prepare over a dozen appetizers to get the party started. She demonstrates quick ways to make dips like warm goat cheese and sauce, guacamole, garlic and scampi salsa, and humus. The videos below also contain ideas and recipes for red pepper cheese and turkey spiral snacks, chicken on a stick, quesadillas, and taco pizza. A dinner part can’t go wrong with homemade buffalo wings, fresh bruschetta, or an aged holiday cheese ball. Try these out before your next get together to make friends and family salivate!
"Hi, I'm Marlene Spiegel founding team leader from Wild Tree. I'm here on behalf of Expert Village to show you how to have a party, everybody knows this is always the part of the party. But, you also need some appetizers. So I'm going to show you how to make some delicious appetizers in a short time. Our first one I have goat cheese (soft goat cheese) and I'm going to put that in the center of this bowl. I'm going to surround it with Wild Tree traditional spaghetti sauce and then I'm going to put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Come with me. Here we go our 30 seconds, while we are waiting for it to cook I'm going to have a little sip. You're welcome to join me. I'm sure it will be lots of fun, parties are great fun I always love to entertain. And I love to have you to come into my home, that is why you are here I'm sharing my ideas right with you. It's ready, it's warm enough and now I have some garlic pita chips, mmm good. Take a little bit of the soft cheese with the hot sauce, spread it an appetizer quick and easy everybody will love."
