"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Today we will be making French Onion soup. These are the ingredients we will be using; 6 cups of stock. The classic stock to use for this soup is a beef broth and we will be making a nice homemade been broth. I am going to be using a vegetarian broth. You want to have as many slices of a French bread, nice crusty thick slices; as many slices as you are going to have servings. One cup of grated cheese. The classical cheese to use here is gruyere. You can use other swiss cheese or mozzarella cheese if you would like. We are going to use a 1 1/2 pounds of onion. I weighed this out. This is 5 onions. It is about 1 1/2 pounds, 4 tablespoons of margarine or butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar. That is to help caramelize the onions. Some salt to taste and pepper to taste. Plus you want to have some nice soup crocks to serve your soup in. "
