Installing the Mount for a Ceiling Fan

"Hi I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to install a ceiling fan in your home. Now in this application we have a really old house. This house is about 100 years old so how it is set up is just with the wires coming out of a hole in the ceiling. So we are going to mount our bracket directly to the ceiling. Now there is sheet rock over wood. If you just have sheet rock, you definitely need to mount your bracket into something substantial. Because here all I'm putting into is it is going to go through the sheet rock and then into wood. Now I'm not going to tighten it up all the way just so that I can get another screw into the other side. So this is going to be going directly into, it is going to go through the sheet rock and directly into some 1x6s. That is pretty tight. That is pretty tight."
