"Hi I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to install a ceiling fan in your home. This is our electric meter that would measure voltage and oms and dc voltage. What we want to do now is this is a digital volt meter and we are going to make sure we have no power to our wiring. So I'm going to set the meter here so it does not fall. Then I'm going to take off these wire nuts carefully. Then you would put one each and make sure we have no voltage. Okay. You see that so that is how you test for that to make sure you have no voltage. This is our Beckman meter. It is very sensitive. This is just tenth of a volt but so it is reading zero basically. Here is, it is set at 200 this meter either uses a 1,000 or 200 or 20 dc volts. So we have it set at 200 because that is the highest range that 110 volts would fit in to properly. Then here we have black as common and the red is for the voltage. So we did check our outlet and we have no voltage so we are clear to go."
