"Hi! I'm Kay and we are filming for expertvillage.com here at Carter's Appliance in Fontana, California. If it is outside of warranty though, you may choose to go with an independent contractor and have your refrigerator serviced at that time. Most of the independent contractor's have to have some type of background training in refrigeration and repairs. The freon or the cooling system in most cases is not repairable and if the unit goes down and is not cooling, typically it is not the freon gas that is in the refrigerator. It is usually a temperature switch or another part. The only way that you can lose the freon in a refrigerator is you have to have a hole in the line or somewhere for that gas to escape and that is extremely rare. Typically we offer our customer's some options with maintenance. In the event that the customer has a problem with a brand new item that is less than a year old, they can call our shop and we can refer them to the manufacturer's factory service representatives. If it is out of warranty, then we can also refer our customer's to a contract worker who has a background in repairing of all major appliances. "
