"The ingredients of a good compost are air, water, microbes, carbon, and nitrogen. Microorganisms break down the plant matter and the organic matter and they do most of the work. Later in the process, fungi and protozoa work with the bacteria to break down more of the organic matter. Then, at the end of the process in the compost you will find centipedes and millipedes, beetles, earthworms that breakdown the final stages of the compost. "
