" On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Craig Morrell I’m with Landscape Restorations in Miami, Florida. We’re here at Palm Hammock Orchid Estate in Miami, Florida talking about basic gardening. One of the most important parts of gardening especially early on is get good at the basics first before you go onto more difficult plans and one of the most important parts of that is start with the basics. Here’s a rhizomatous begonia growing in a hanging basket, get good at doing something like this before you do some of the more complicated designs involving multiple different cultures of plants and particularly when it comes to arid gardens. It’s very important that you understand the mechanics of things like cacti, succulents before you tackle a project that looks like that, where you even have cacti, succulents and vermilliads to work into a landscape. This is definitively a high maintenance garden, it needs low water and a lot of weeding care. So before you start with the very fancy designs and the very fancy landscape plans, get good at the basics, fertilizing, propagation, watering and pest control. There’s a lot of help out there, available yourself of it, educate yourself and you’ll be able to enjoy your garden that much better."
