"This is my garden - this is a new garden - and the way that I began this new garden is first, I took my turning fork and I loosened all of the soil about a foot apart. And this whole area was filled with grass, so then I carefully removed the grass by the roots and all the weeds. And then, I took compost from the compost heap - and by the way - this is gardener’s gold. This is all homemade compost from kitchen scraps and horse manure, and I took this - look at those earthworms; that’s a good sign - and then I tilled it in. And if you cut an earthworm in half, it just makes two, so don’t worry too much about that. And so that’s how I begin the garden. "
