"Today we are going to talk about how to dispose of your used oil and stale gas in the proper way. I cannot express to you how important it is to dispose of these materials in the proper way. Not only do you risk poisoning pets, lawns, ground water and neighborhood children you also risk having fines when people turn you in for dumping your gas under oil illegally. So what we have here is a quarter master drain. This is what I store my oil in after I have changed it from whatever unit, lawn trimmer or lawnmower that I have drained. So it is pretty easy. You can get these at any hardware store and/or any automotive shop. What it is just a quart container that holds dirty oil. It also has a little strainer and if you have any debris in there it will catch it. I am going to take my old oil, pour it in making sure not to spill. I am also going to wipe out my container. Unfortunately, this will have to be thrown away. However, I have now disposed out of my oil. If you have questions about where you need to take your oil one this container gets filled, simply take it to your automobile sharp or you can take it to your local small engine repair shop. They will charge you a small nominal fee to dispose of it or they will dispose of it for free. Also I do know some garbage pick up will if you just set out your oil next to your garbage, they will just pick up it and charge you a fee in your regular monthly garbage bill. It is super easy. They will take care of it for you. "

on 6/5/2009 This is a great video to remind us all that petrochemicals are considered a hazmat. I found a new product that remediates oil and fuel if you happen to spill oil while you are pouring the oil out. I always spill oil when performing this task....The product is called Oil Gone Easy Home and Driveway S-200. You can read about the product on Wiki. Oil Gone Easy has actually been used to clean up major oil spills such as the Valdez in Alaska. Finally - a green way to clean up your spills! Hope this helps.
