Depending on the size of the splitter you are able to split very large tree trunks in a fraction of the time and it is a much safer process as well.

" Hi! I’m Charles McMahon on behalf of Expert Village. I am going to talk about how to use this wood splitter. The first thing we will do is describe the machine, so this is an electric hydraulic wood splitter. It’s has an electric motor down here and its got a hydraulic cylinder up in here and the function of this machine is if you have a log in here, you have the wedge, this thing moves forward, drives the log into the wedge and splits it. Okay, that is basically how this machine works. Now this is a very powerful machine. It has maximum 6 tons of force and so you have to be very careful when you use it. It is also very heavy, so the first thing you have to do is know how to move it. You can see there is a handle down at the end here and so when you are going to move this machine, you have to lift it enough to be able to get the wheels to engage on the ground and you have to lift it with your legs not your back. So you stoop down like this, you grab the handle and you move up with your legs and now you can move it pretty easily. So when you put it down, you do it with your legs, not your back; otherwise, you would really hurt yourself. "
