"Hi this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village, in this video clip I will be showing you how we would cut out our desk top. To cut out our desk top we are going to be using a jig saw to go around all the lines that we jsut made. We are using a jig saw instead of a table saw becasue when we make all these cuts around our top we still have these our pieces to worry about. In addion most tools won't be able to make these curves. Now when you make this cut you want to make sure that the blade maintains a safe distance away from the line. Now a safe distance means that we are going to be a sixteeth away from the line when we make our cut so we coudl cut it off straight later. The jig saw by itself does not make a very straight cut so we are going to leave this little buffer zone for safety. When I make my curve cut I'm going to make sure to keep the blade about a sixteeth "
