"Hi this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village, in this video clip I will be talking about choosing materials. I have chosen to make my desk out of oak, now there is two different types of oak materials that we are going to be working with. The first material is a solid oak board, the next material is a veneer oak ply wood. What it is a ply wood with a thin piece of oak put over the top of it to make it look like one big giant solid oak board. The oak veneer plywood comes in four feet wide by eight feet long sheets. It is much cheaper to buy it this way then glue a whole bunch of boards together and get a whole big massive board. In addition it is a little bit lighter then solid oak board. Now although there is many different types of wood that you could use I find oak to be the easiest to work with. "
