Cleaning Off Old Glue on a Wood Chair

" This is Charles McMahon, for Expert Village. The next thing that we have to do for our project of fixing this broken chair is to take off the remains of the old glue; you can see for example on this spindle. So to do this we are going to start using a box cutter; very simple handy tool and we will see if we can’t scrape the stuff off using the box cutter without damaging the spindle; just like carving wood. We don’t have to get it all off because it is only the stuff that was above the line of the joint but we don’t want to have anymore of this stuff on there than we have to. Okay, that’s good enough for that. We’ve got some here that we have to be careful not to knock the spindles loose as we do this. You can see that this is not a fine furniture kind of repair but this is not fine furniture; it is just utilitarian stuff. Okay, that is probably good enough for old epoxy. Okay, that’s good enough for the cleanup. "
