"Hi! My name is Shaun Appler and I am an investigator with the Wrightsville Beach Police Department on on behalf of Expert Village, I am here to talk to you today about how to deal with an aggressive driver. Once we've established that you get out of the way, you stay out of the way of the aggressive driver because you don't want to be part of any accidents they cause. You also don't want to be the fault of any accident. You don't want to be an obstacle for them. Once we've done that and you believe they are still being too aggressive, please notify law enforcement. On most cell phones you can dial 911. I know in North Carolina you can dial star 77. Law enforcement officers can only act on what information we have. Be as detailed as possible when you are talking to the 911 dispatcher. Let the officer know exactly what kind of car it is, what color, direction of travel, if you can figure out how many occupants are in the car, that is good for us to know. The most important thing for us to know is the license plate. Find out what the license plate number is, copy it down. If you have a little hand held recorder or something, try to get that plate number for us because we can't just stop any red mustang that we see traveling down the road because you think how many there could be on a particular road especially if it is busy. Leave your name and telephone number with 911 especially if something does come out of it and there is a stop made and the officer is able to stop this aggressive driver, they do need to subpoena you to court to get you to come testify after this person is driving then they have that information.
