"Oh man! Let's say you get lost. Not the way to beat traffic. But getting unlost in a hurry will get you back on track and back on schedule. So the first thing to do is if you get lost, naturally, you always carry a map in your car. They don't call me Dr. Roadmap for anything! Start checking the map. In fact, even as you drive, before you get lost, there are a couple of tips and that is: keep track of everything you see as you go along, especially in unfamiliar territory. Note airports, golf courses, rivers, street signs...anything that will tell you tip you off as you are going along. Then when you do get lost, you can think back on where you were. When you open up the map book, then you can help retrace your steps. And let's go to the map. Again, if you noticed an airport, right away you've got your barrings. A shopping center? It will help you out. A golf course; any of these things will help you. Baring that, go to the intersection. Check out the two cross streets that you see at the intersection. Then you look in the back of the map book and find out, again, look those two streets up. It will dial you in. And lastly, you can orient your map if you've got a compass. And I happen to know where I am at all times just about, so I don't need a compass. But if you need one, you can orient your map. That will help you. Use the scale on the map to determine the distance back to your location. And if all else fails, and you have to call and ask for directions on your cell phone, just as a matter of rule (because I know this; I used to answer helpline telephone calls from people in their cars)...men get just as lost as women do!"
