"NATHAN MCCULLOUGH: Hi, my name is Nathan McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips, we're going to talk about the proper way to perform a five-wheel tire rotation. In this clip, I'm going to demonstrate the proper way to remove your vehicle's hubcap and break loose your lug nuts. The hubcap on this particular vehicle--it's a Ford F-150, it's located right here. I'm going to take my pry bar and slip it between the rim and the hubcap itself and just use a slight prying action to pop if off. You're looking for this notch. That is going to be where you insert your screwdriver or pry bar in order to remove your hubcap. As you can see, the hubcap is right here. This is actually a metal spring which grips onto the lug nuts and holds it in place while you're driving. Once you have the hubcap removed, you can go ahead and set it down. I'm going to use my four-way, right here. It comes with the four most common sizes for your lug nuts. It's a good idea to purchase one. There's no particular order for removing them. There you go. And just like so. You're going to want to break your lug nuts loose before you jack the vehicle off the ground. If you were to raise it up in the air and try and break them loose, more than likely, you're just going to freewheel the vehicle's tire instead of breaking the lug nut loose. All right, and this is the proper way to break them loose. Before you perform any other steps in your five-wheel tire rotation, you're going to want to repeat that step for all four of the wheels that are contacting the ground."
