on 11/4/2009 Tire chains are a very versatile product that I always use come December. Being from the Northeast, we get hit with some solid snow storms that cause the roads to be quite dangerous. I have been using these chains for about 5 years now, and I would have to say they have saved me in some treacherous situations.

"Hello, in this segment, we're going to cover basic safety practices and policies for both the safe operation of installing the chains in the pre-fitting stages of it and the actual installing them out on the road. The various things that you need to be concerned with, various safety issues that go along with automobiles and being out on the highway in a bad situation having to put the chains on in inclement weather. First thing you're going to want to do in the safety aspect is the personal nature, your own personal safety. You want to make sure you've got safety goggles along, safety glasses, goggles, like ski goggles would work just fine. Something to protect your eyes from flying debris from other vehicles going by or from a damaged tool or something that might break and it's just safety or eye protection. Also when you're going to be installing the chains, not so much in the pre-fitting stages, but out on the road, you're going to want cold weather protective gear for your hands, your feet and the rest of your body as well. It can be extremely cold in those situations when you're required to put the chains on and it's always going to be in a bad situation where you're going to be in snow and obviously, hence the need for chains. Some other issues are, when you have to stop and put on chains, you want to take things into consideration as moving traffic and other vehicles in the area. Make sure you're in a good safe location. Pull off to the side of the road, things of that nature. We'll cover those as we go through the installation process. For right now, what we're going to be doing as far as safety in the pre-fitting. You want to make sure your vehicles in park, parking breaks set. All the basic safety procedures that apply to jacking up the vehicle and working around it when it's on a load carrying device. Please watch our next segment and we'll cover pre-fitting."
