"Hi! I am Bob Osborne with Expert Village. After we have done the front of the car, the rocker panels, the wheels, all the really dirty areas of the car and the doorjambs then we switch buckets. I use all new mitts; I used all new bug sponges and brushes dedicated just to the top side of the car. The reason is I do this because the bottom part of the car is so dirty and gritty. I do not want to move dirt around to the top of the car scratching the paint, the windows so anyway we use new equipment for the top. Wet the car thoroughly. Again, it is ideal if you don’t do this in direct sunlight. I use the ionized water, so I don’t have to worry about spotting but if we have not got water that has been purified, most areas in the country have very hard water, but if water is the problem definitely wash the car in shade or in the morning or in the evening when the sun is not directly above you. So when you are washing the body of the car; again I almost always start at the front of the car. Start with a hood. I am paying attention to the surface to make sure that there is nothing on the surface that I can pickup with a mitt and move around and scratch the car like a piece of gravel or anything that is hard enough that could actually scratch the paint. This time I also use one of the bug sponges to clean the windshield. This helps to move any bug splatter and it will not scratch the glass. Be careful what you do use on this because some of these pads will actually say that they won’t scratch, but they do. So before you go and clean an entire car with a product or a pad or a mitt that you are not familiar with, try it on a test spot first. Make sure that you are not going to do damage to the car. It is a lot easier than most people think that it will damage the surface of the paint when you are washing a car. "
