"Hi, I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village and today we're going to teach you how to change the oil in a standard internal combustion automobile engine. We're going to now start the vehicle and check and then what we're going to do is when the motor starts now, the oil will be distributed throughout the engine and then when we turn it off the oil will settle back down and then we can get a true reading of the oil level in our motor. So now we're going to start it up for a minute. Make sure that the vehicle is on park or in gear. It's off of the jack stands. So put the clutch in, put it in neutral and we're going to start the motor. Now at first you may see that the oil lights comes on and you may not have good oil pressure but in a few moments the oil light should go off or your oil gage should indicate that you're attaining proper oil pressure. So now we've ran the motor for a few minutes and we're going to turn it off, put it in gear, parking brake is set and now we're going to check the oil level again after the motor has operated for a few minutes. Then we'll wipe the dipstick, put it back in the dipstick tube. Push it in all the way and then we're going to check the oil level. So now see it's quiet different, so we do need to add another quart. So that's why we do that operation that we just did right there. So now we're going to put another quart in after checking the oil level the first time. So this is why we do that little test that we just did. Okay, now we're going to put in another quart of oil. You can just put it in like that and just let it flow into the engine."
