"Hi, I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village and today we're going to teach you how to change the oil in a standard internal combustion automobile engine. And then we're going to take out the oil drain nut and you'll see this is why I have this rag around my wrist. We have the pan directly underneath it. So now we're loosening this. So don't lose this nut, just keep pushing in on it. Try not to get the oil on your skin. Okay, now I can feel that the oil is just about out of there. I'm going to continue pulling it out and unscrewing it and there the old oil is now draining into the oil drain pan. On many oil drain plugs, there would be a magnetic devise on the drain plug to catch metal particles which are flowing around in your oil system. You can scrape this with your finger and see if there is much sludge and many times on this, this will give you an indication to the health of the motor and how much sludge is on there. This one is still pretty clean but you do see a lot of containments are building up on it. So you want to clean this off good, so just clean this all over. We can see that the oil is still draining and we'll just let that continue draining."
