In this clip, we're going to talk about the proper way to remove and replace a burned out headlight on a 2000 Dodge Stratus. In this step we're going to talk about the proper way to remount our headlight and retainer into the lens. These headlights get extremely hot when they run and it's important that you have them aligned in the hole straight and retained. If you don't and the bulb is cocked, it may come in contact with the lens and actually burn the plastic, it can even cause a fire. These lenses are not cheap to replace so you want to make sure you get it lined up right to avoid any circumstantial damage. This clip has three tabs. One, two, three. They line up with corresponding holes in the lamp assembly. It's going to have three retainers, it's going to slide in and rotate clockwise to mount. Go ahead and do that right now. The bulb has an O-ring on it. That has to be compressed, that's your weather seal. That?s what keeps from getting moisture inside your headlight. You want to make sure that O-ring is fully seated before you screw the retainer down. turn the retainer clockwise until it bottoms out. As you can see it's on there, you can't wiggle it out. That is the proper way to seat your bulb into the lamp assembly and tighten down your retainer.
