"Hi my name is Nat McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we're going to talk about the proper way to remove and replace a front wheel drive vehicles valve joint. In this clip we're going to talk about another device that holds your valve joint in its called a snap ring. This is actually a spring and will have potential energy stored in it. As you can see I have dawned my safety glasses. Anytime you're dealing with something that's spring loaded that could pop up and hit you in the face it's a good idea to put on your safety gear. Like I said this is a spring I'm going to use my needle nose here to show you it is spring steel. What that does is it seats in this groove right around here and that keeps your valve joint from coming out of the control arm, it's pretty much just a safety device. Now the snap ring is underneath the grease seal. Okay, popped off what was left of our grease seal and discard that."
