How to Place Jack Stand Under a Car

"Hi my name is Nate McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In the following clips we're going to talk about the proper way to repack, grease, and adjust your vehicles wheel bearings. In this clip we're going to talk about the proper location for our jack stand. It is never, never, never a good idea to work on a vehicle with just a hydraulic floor jack or a scissor jack for that matter. There's a real dinky tiny thirty cent seal in the bottom of this that's your going to hang your life on. If you get underneath this vehicle without putting a solid mechanical device between you and the ground. I have a very heavy duty jack stand, you don't necessarily need one, it's rated for six tons. They come in a five hundred pound half ton verity. I do a lot of heavy vehicle work so I have the big version. We're going to take and jack the vehicle up a little bit higher and your going to slip this, if your working on passenger car your going to slip it underneath the pinch weld which is this location here. Being that I'm working on a heavy truck we're going to go right to the vehicles frame. Get one more squeeze out of it so it'll fit right. Ok once you have your jack stand located it is ok to go ahead and release the pressure on your floor jack and get it out of your way."
