"Hi I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods, and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. So Dave got under there with the center punch and the hammer, he's making a mark for a hanger. Before he makes everything permanent here he wants to get a hanger in the right place to support the muffler, make sure everything is at the right angle, and then he'll go ahead and weld it up. Then he can make his next piece of pipe. So Dave is using a battery-operated drill just because it's simple and easy, saves tripping over cords. Now we're going to install the exhaust hanger. Dave used a small drill bit to drill a pilot hole, then a bigger one to wallow it out a little bit. And he's got a sheet metal style, almost a self-tapping screw that he's putting in there to hold it to the frame. He's using an impact ratchet, only because it's simple and easy. You can drive them by hand if you want, it's a lot harder work that way, and this would be more efficient. If you look at the exhaust hanger it's nothing more than a bracket that he can bolt to the frame with a rubber isolator, and then a long rod that we just run wild. We run this next to the exhaust piece that we're hanging, weld to it, and then chop off the extra that's left in it. The reason you want the rubber isolator here is so that you don't have the sound of the exhaust, the vibration transmitted directly to the frame of the car."
