"My name is Kevin Woods on behalf of expertvillage.com; phone number is (314) 584-0116. The next thing you have is your steering wheel adjuster. It allows you to go up and down with your steering wheel. The key for that is you don't want your steering wheel too high to where you need to see something you have to move up. What you want to do is adjust your steering wheel to your height. Remember that your left foot is already on the pad and you are already far back enough and comfortable in your seat so the next thing you do is adjust the steering wheel. You don't want it too low nor do you want it too high. You want it right at your level. Remember you always look at the steering wheel like its a clock. You have 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00 o'clock. I ask most students to put their hands on the 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock. Some instructors may do 10:00 and 2:00 o'clock. But I asked the student to put it on 9:00 or to put it on 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock. That's important how you handle the steering wheel and what they want to see when you take the road test is that you have total control of the vehicle and you must have the proper way of turning, proper hand mechanics and the proper timing. Remember driving is coordinating your mind, hand and feet at the same time. A lot of times students turn but they push the gas real fast which makes them turn wide. A lot of times students may not give a car any gas but they turn anywhere. This steering wheel is your control center but really your mind is the alternate control center of what it is you do."
