"In this segment, we're going to cover cleaning the lens and bulb assembly part 2. Now for cleaning the bulb, as I stated before, a lot of the newer bulbs are halogen. This type isn't a halogen but, it?s recommended that you don't or that you avoid contact with your fingers or getting the oil off your skin on the bulb itself. This can cause premature failure. As I showed you in the maintenance section of our front door, I just wrapped some cloth around my fingers. If you got big fingers or you find that a little in cumbersome, you can also use a pair of needle nosed pliers. Just grab one end of the metal bulb, just apply lightly and you can pull it right out of the socket. Just lightly pulling. I'm just going to wiggle it loose on each end. I'll just grab on corner with the needle nosed pliers, disconnect it from the socket. To clean it once again I'm just going to take a portion of my rag that's still wet with the cleaning solution and just gently wipe down the bulb, removing all the excess dust and dirt. You also might want to keep in mind, when you take these right out after they've been on the door, they could be warm or hot to the touch. Keep a mental reminder, you don't want to pop out a burning hot bulb in your hand drop it and break it. After the bulbs been cleaned, to reinsert you can just hold it in your fingers and push it straight in to the socket or you can grab it by one end with a needle nosed pliers and push it in one end at a time. Just whichever works out easier for you. As you can see, where we snap it in the light comes back on. We will wipe out with our fingertip any remaining dust in the socket. Clean out the housing assembly. Wipe down the excess dust. Please watch our next segment on installing a lens cover."
