" Hi! This is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, I will be talking about mixing coolant. It is important that when you add coolant, you don't put the coolant in first and then add the water, because they won't mix properly and they will eventually flow through the engine at different consistencies. The recommended mixture of water and coolant will be labeled on the bottle you buy. This one is labeled 50/50, meaning 50 percent coolant, 50 percent water. Typically the mixture is either 50/50 or 70/30. Again 50/50, meaning 50 percent water, 50 percent antifreeze, or 70/30, meaning 70 percent antifreeze, 30 percent water. By adding antifreeze to the water, it will increase the boiling point and decrease the freezing point enough to protect your engine on a cold winter day and on a hot summer day. . "
