"Hi! This is John on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, I will be talking about buying the right kind of brake fluid. First off if you mix different kinds of brake fluids, you risk seal leakage and/or damaging your braking system. The three main types of brake fluids are DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5. Each of these will have different properties and only one is properly suited for your engine. Most cars use DOT 3 brake fluid, but to be sure, an easy way to find out is to look in the user's manual that came with your car. You can also look at the top of the master cylinder and in many cases, it will have written on top what type of fluid you need to put in your engine."
