"Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to talk to you about signs of skin cancer. Now, in this clip, we're going to talk to you about one of three types of commonly found skin cancer, and that is Basal Cell Carcinoma. Now, let's look at a picture of basal cell carcinoma. Now, basal cell carcinoma is a slow growing cancer that rarely metastasize and almost never fatal. Now, here you can see a picture of basal cell carcinoma and look at the features, notice the pearly white translucent surface of the whole lesion. And usually, if you look very carefully, you can see these fine lines, in medical terms we call fine telangiectasia. As you can see here these white fine lines and then, notice also the characteristic raw borders of the edges and then there are some kind of central ulceration. Now, in the early stages of the basal cell carcinoma, you'll see that it's a firm red lump later developing to a lesion that have a crusty layer and sometimes it bleeds and it doesn't heal. So, that is the characteristic and the look of Basal Cell Carcinoma. Now, basal cell carcinoma is also found in a very certain area, under the eyes, a common place and you can see in this diagram there's a basal cell skin cancer, that's found under the eye that's a very common place to find this particular type of skin cancer."
