"Hi, my name is Charlie Labarda. I'm here with Expert Village. We're here to show you how to hunt with bird dogs. And he smells the bird within about eight feet away from him. You'll notice I've got the bird in the cage because we're not going to shoot them right now, we're just training him. And he's on point, he won't move until I tell him to go. Whoa! He'll stay there, this dog is pretty good, and he?ll stay there as long as I need him to stay until I give him the command that says okay. And that's his job. This is a pointing dog, and they go by smell, not by sight. He's just relaxing. He's still looking at the bird. Whoa! I'm still giving the command; he'll stay there for a while until he's on point. Okay Mack, okay. Whoa! You'll notice I gave him the command that says okay, he moved a little bit. I can make him move up. Okay Mack. Okay Mack. This is, when he's not moving, at this time, he's telling me there's a bird there he doesn't want to move. He wants me to go up and flush the bird myself and he'll hold back until I give him the command. If I say okay again, and I can't find the bird then I'll say okay at this moment, okay Mack, okay Mack. When he's not moving, he's telling me there's a bird there that I can't find, so I have to just keep looking for the bird and flush it out."

on 6/14/2008 As a fancier and trainer of coonhounds, I really loved your video on pointing dogs. They always impress me so much, as does a great handler such as yourself. 5 stars
