"Hi. My name is Charlie Labarda with Expert Village. We're here to show you how to hunt with bird dogs. At this time, we're going to show you some of the tools/equipment to train dogs for beginning to hunt. This is a fishing pole with a pheasant feather on it. What we do with this is just kind of move it around when the puppies are around to see who's interested in the feather and you'll know if the dog's are willing to hunt, the natural blood line to hunt. What I'll do with this, I'll just move it around. The do will watch and then when I pull it and move it and sometimes the puppy will stay and look at it and that pretty much means they are naturally born to hunt and using that equipment, this rubber duck (we do also duck hunting) is another tool we use for retrieving. I'm going to demonstrate/throw one and this dog is going to retrieve. Ready. Fetch. And That's Toby retrieving duck for you. Fetch. Hurry. Fetch. Fetch. Fetch. Good Boy. Bring it here. Fetch. Fetch. Fetch. Fetch. Fetch. Good Boy. Here. Come. Fetch. Fetch. Fetch. So that's what he does. He's a big dog so he need's to figure out how to hold it, and now he's playing with it and Good Boy. Here. Good Boy. Bring. And these are some of the training birds we use. These are the chucker bird. I think they originally came from Russia. They are very hardy birds and real good-eating white meat and we use this bird for training. Notice we have some that are full-grown. They get full-grown at about eight weeks and they're ready to be hunted."
