Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Always start the tug games. Don't let your dog come to you and start the game. You want to be the one that starts the game.

  2. Step 2

The most important part of tug is that you win the game. If your dog always wins the game your dog is getting the wrong signal. Over time, this can become a big problem.

  3. Step 3

Make it very clear to your dog that they are never allowed to put their mouth on your skin. If your dog bites you while you are playing, immediately end the game.

  4. Step 4

Have your dog do commands before, during and after the tug games. Before you start playing have your dog do a sit or down and then start playing. During the game have your dog release the toy and give a command. Once your dog does the command you can start playing again.

  5. Step 5

Always end the game. When you're done playing the game have your dog release the toy and then put it away.
