"Hi I’m Daniel Keeper owner and operator of Zoo Keeper Exotic Pets in Austin, Texas and on behalf of Expert Village.com; today we will be talking about boa constrictors. Boa constrictors range from Mexico down to the tip of South America. They are very common constrictor and very popular in the pet trade because generally they are very docile. They don’t get too large so this is a nice size female here. Typically you don’t see to many get much bigger than this. These guys are very successful feeders as you can imagine. They are very powerful and when they are young, they catch small mammals rodents, birds and anything that they can over power and eat. One thing that sets most boas off from most pythons is that boa constrictors are live bearers. They give birth live where python’s lay eggs. A big female like this typically has 30 or 40 babies at a time. They shed their skin at birth usually 10 days or so after they are born and then monthly after that depending on how much they are eating and growing at the time. Boas make good pets, good snakes, good disposition and you will have a lot of fun raising these guys."
