"Hi! I'm Dr. Adrienne Mulligan and I am the owner of Camp Verde Veterinary Clinic and I am here today on behalf of expertvillage.com and I am here to talk about cat grooming. Okay, after a bath it's very prudent to clean the kitty's ears and get the water out that might have gotten in there when you do the bath. Water will collect in their ear and create an imbalance in the PH so they will get bacterial infections. There are a lot of ear cleaners on the market that you want to check them out for their ability to dry the ear as well as alter the PH to make it more normal. This particular cleaner Malosedic is basically a vinegar and boric acid solution. So vinegar is your most natural form of PH balancing in a cat or a dog and then the boric acid is a drying agent. So in a cat I wouldn't go about pouring this all down in the ear like I would in a dog. I would just put some in a cotton ball. They don't like getting their ears wet very much so this is one where you might just have to scrub and then you can use your cotton ball around the ear that you can get into and then it can dribble down inside and they will shake it out and it will dry. Let's see, I got a little brown waxy stuff in that one so, come on you're getting me all wet. Okay, come on. I never advise to you a cue-tip down in the ears. You can do too much damage that way. So basically just getting as much as you can get cleaned out and then letting them shake the rest out is good. "
