"Hi! I am Dr. Adrienne Mulligan and on behalf of expertvillage.com we are going to talk a little bit about exercise for the outdoor cat. Obviously outdoor cats have the capability of exercising themselves, they have trees to climb, they have predators to run from, they have lots of area where they can run and chase little mice and basically they have all the things they need out there; and so it is kind of hard to provide anything extra for your outdoor cat to do, but there are always things that could you put outside where they could hide, tunnels. These things probably you could get for dog agility classes like tunnels and things that you could put out, where they could hide and sneak through. And then the big thing is that for your outdoor cats, because they are exercising a lot, just be careful on their feeding; make sure they are getting enough food, but if they are getting overweight then maybe you are feeding them too much because then they get lazy and they don’t go hunt, they should hunt, for their exercise they should hunt and go after mice and go after small animals and that is part of their exercise. So the more you feed them the less they will do some other things that get them their exercise and I have that experience with my cat here. We fed him too much and he got fat and probably because he quit chasing so many mice in the barn. "
