"Hi! My name is Sally from expertvillage.com from Fish Fantasy in Riverside. We are going to be speaking about how to buy healthy fish. Once again, you have to build up a nitrogen cycle so it takes anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks to build up on the pond. So the gold fish can handle the ammonia a lot better than the Coy. They are much hardier. So they can live through the cycling process and you don't want to spend $15 on a Coy when you can spend 10 for a $1 on goldfish. If you lose some, it's not such a loss. Nitrus Amoneous , nitro bacter bacteria convert your amonia to nitrie and then once again to nitrate and you do a weekly portion on ponds or every two weeks you do a 10 percent on ponds you do a partial. That means remove some water out and replace with fresh water. Always add your chloramine remover because they add chlorine and chloramine to the water which is a mixture of chlorine and ammonia. "
