"Hi! This is Sally from expertvillage.com from Fish Fantasy in Riverside. We are going to be speaking about how to buy healthy fish. With the goldfish, they need more vegetation in their diet so wheat germ oil fish food would be better for them. Also you could feed them Spareline. That gives them a lot of the vegetation they need. Once again I still recommend the sinking pellets over the flake. If you are going to feed flakes and if you have flakes and don't want to waste them, you can put it underwater where they don't have to go up. Just put your hand in the water. Say like you have flakes and you would just put it under water like this instead of sprinkling on top as you do with most fish. Goldfish are very easy to care for for children. I don't recommend any fish in a bowl other than a Beta. Unless you have a little filter, I wouldn't recommend anything any less than a gallon for goldfish especially the Fancy Goldfish. Comet Goldfish are very hardy. They are pretty indescribable. They are wonderful to start out with ponds. When you start out a pond, you want to start out with feeder goldfish. Let them cycle the pond for you about 3 wee4ks. After 3 weeks, then you can get your Coy. "
