"Overall, Pueblan Milk Snakes and other Milk Snake Species make excellent pets. They don't get much larger than three feet, some will get about four feet, but most of them stay around this size. They are easily handleable, excellent pets. Some pet snakes that you want to avoid or leave to the professionals are the large pythons; such as the Burmese Reticulated Pythons, Green Anacondas, snakes like that get very large at a very fast rate. These guys make the best pets. Now, before you consider buying a snake, keep these things in mind. They eat dead mice, not everyone wants to keep mice, especially frozen mice in their freezers. Also, when you own a snake be prepared to get bit. Even cat and dog owners get bit. Snakes will bite, too, when they get scared. It's usually more startling when it happens because you don't expect it, but when you own a pet snake, you will eventually get bit by it. It's not a big thing, you usually don't feel the teeth going into you, you just feel a little bit of pressure, but you will bleed because all snakes have teeth. If you handle your snake constantly, the less likely you're going to get bit by it because it's going to get use to you. But every now and then it might get scared and strike. Also, things to consider when you are choosing, when you're getting a pet snake, is to make sure that you have an adequate sized enclosure to house them. As for these Milk Snakes, another reason why they make the best pet snake is because they don't need huge tanks, they don't need giant enclosures, they can easily live in about a twenty gallon sized tank or the equivalent of a twenty gallon sized cage. Make sure it's secure. That's the number one thing you have to make sure on your enclosure. Make sure it's secure. These guys are Houdini's of snakes, they can escape. They'll find any little tiny opening inside the cage and they'll utilize it. So, make sure you have a very, very secured tank because the number one thing that I hear that the biggest problem with these snakes is them actually escaping into your house. A lot of people, especially visitors, don't want to come over to your house if they know that you have an escaped snake slithering about. Overall, these guys are excellent pet snakes. Great first pet snake as well."
